Agent for hot metal desulfurization is a blend of solid materials consisting mainly of calcium carbide, calcium oxide and carbon. Other constituents are specific customer - dependent.
PROPERTIES
Agent for hot metal desulfurization is a fine ground mixture of individual components produced by mixing of above mentioned materials. The main of mixture is calcium carbide which vigorously reacts with water and air humidity under evolution of explosive acetylene and heat.
TECHNICAL DATA
Agent for hot metal desulfurization is offered in various kinds in dependence on the share of the main component of another present components.

APPLICATION
Agent for hot metal desulfurization finds uses as an ingredient in steel industry in production process for desulfurization of raw material iron and steel.
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS AND HEALTH PROTECTION
During manipulation agent for hot metal desulfurization mixture must not come into contact with water and air humidity, because it causes decomposition of the present calcium carbide under evolution of heat and acetylene. This can lead to health impairment by burning or explosion. Agent for hot metal desulfurisation has irritating consequences on breathing organs, eyes and skin. Wear advisable personal protective aids.
PACKING, TRANSPORTATION AND STORAGE
Agent for hot metal desulfurization mixture is delivered free loaded in suitable hermetically railway carriages or car tanks under a slight excess of nitrogen. During storage and manipulation nitrogen inertization of containers must be also secured on order to prevent influence of atmospheric humidity on calcium carbide.
The presented instructions are to be considered as general, and may be modified with regard to local conditions.
